Stoke City sign Benik Afobe from Wolverhampton Wanderers
Stoke City have completed the signing of Benik Afobe in a surprise loan move from Wolverhampton Wanderers.
Afobe only rejoined Wolves permanently at the start of the month after spending half of the 2017-18 on loan from Bournemouth to help the Molineux Stadium outfit to the English Championship title, thus, gaining promotion to the English Premier League.
The newly-promoted side’s acquisition of Mexico international Raul Jiminez from Benfica eased their decision to part ways with the striker for the second time, who joins Stoke on a six-month deal.
The deal is expected to be made permanent in January with £12.5 million [$17m] the amount expected for the Arsenal graduate, set to help Gary Rowett’s side achieve their aim of an immediate return to the top-flight.
“If there’s one signing you want to make to get you out of the Championship Benik is that kind of player,” coach Rowett said of the striker’s purchase.
