Thibaut Courtois remains a Chelsea player for the time being with coach Maurizio Sarri wanting to stave off Real Madrid’s interest in the Belgian.
With only 12 months left on his contract, Los Blancos are hoping to pull off a cut-price deal and yet reports claim that it will depend on Chelsea signing a replacement first.
“At the moment Courtois is the goalkeeper of Chelsea,” Sarri told reporters on Friday. “I don’t know about the future.
“It depends on the club, it depends especially on him, but I hope Courtois will be our goalkeeper.”
Another Madrid-linked player is Willian and the Italian coach is confident that his winger is happy to remain in West London.
“There is not a Willian problem,” Sarri remarked ahead of Sunday’s Community Shield match, adding that he had enjoyed ‘positive conversations’ with the Brazilian.
