Sanchez recovers by the pool after Man United’s first pre-season friendly

Manchester United forward Alexis Sanchez has been recovering by the pool following the Red Devils 0-0 draw with San Jose Earthquakes.

Sanchez played 64 minutes after being thrown into Jose Mourinho’s starting eleven just two days after landing in Los Angeles due to a delay issuing his visa.

The 29-year-old showed glimpses of his best in the 32 degree heat at the Levi’s Stadium but has taken some time to rest up and recover before United’s next match.

In typical Sanchez fashion, he videoed himself relaxing by the pool in his underwear, while showing off his muscular phsyique.

The Chilean has clearly kept in shape during his summer holidays as he bids to return to his best form, which is yet to show in a Man United shirt.

He put in a good shift against the Earthquakes and almost assisted the winner when he found Eric Bailly from a cross – only for the centre-back to hit the crossbar.

It was an entertaining moment in an otherwise unexciting match for Jose Mourinho’s side, who have also struggled to sell tickets to their pre-season friendlies.

The official attendance on Sunday was 32,549 in a 68,000 capacity stadium, and the empty seats were glaringly obvious. The same stadium was all-but sold out last summer when United faced Real Madrid.

The lack of sales only added to the need to get Sanchez out to the States with other stars including Romelu Lukaku and Paul Pogba still on holiday.

But their absence will give Sanchez the opportunity to establish himself as their key player while in the US and rekindle the form that saw Mourinho so desperate to sign him for United in January.
