Milan are favourites to secure the signing of free-agent Bernard, although they reportedly need to offload players before the deal can be confirmed.
Gazzetta dello Sport reports the Rossoneri are the Brazilian’s preferred destination, despite the interest of the likes of Roma, Chelsea and West Ham United.
However, the Italian daily claims a deal has been on stand-by for the last couple of days, with San Siro general manager Leonardo working overtime to free up space on the Diavolo wage bill.
The 25-year-old, who is a full Brazil international, is thought to have agreed personal terms of €3m-a-season with Milan.
But the move will not go ahead unless the club can offload the likes of Carlos Bacca and Nikola Kalinic, who are surplus to requirements at San Siro.
Chelsea, the other club strongly linked with Bernard, have also offered the former Shakhtar Donetsk man a contract.
The Blues are understood to have told the winger he must respond to their offer by tomorrow, or else it will be withdrawn.
