Loftus-Cheek to Crystal Palace ‘confirmed’ by Premier League

Ruben Loftus-Cheek’s future remains uncertain but the official Premier League website appears to have confirmed he will rejoin Crystal Palace.

The Chelsea star shone for the Eagles last term, earning himself a place in the World Cup squad with England.

But despite all of that, Maurizio Sarri is far from ready to guarantee him playing time with the Blues.

A late return for pre-season due to his involvement in Russia has meant some of his team-mates gaining a head start in the battle to secure a place in Sarri’s squad.

But after returning last week and featuring vs Arsenal in a friendly, Sarri decided to leave him out of the squad for the Community Shield vs Manchester City – preferring Danny Drinkwater on the bench.

Loftus-Cheek will instead feature vs Lyon at Stamford Bridge on Tuesday.

The Premier League website appears to show Loftus-Cheek designated to Palace for the 2018/19 season.

Chelsea have been linked with Wilfried Zaha and any deal could involve Loftus-Cheek, with Roy Hodgson making him a key part of his side last term.

The Ivorian would cost in excess of £60m, a figure that appears to have blown Tottenham out of the race for his signature.

With four days left in the window, both clubs remain active, and Loftus-Cheek’s future will be one of the priorities at Stamford Bridge.
