Liverpool waste no time heading back to England after being Man Utd in the United States

It has been a hectic pre-season for Liverpool, with Jurgen Klopp’s side having already played seven friendlies, the most recent of which saw them beat Manchester United 4-1 in the United States on Saturday.

Klopp’s squad have wasted no time in heading back to England to continue their preparations for the new Premier League campaign as they arrived at Manchester Airport on Sunday morning.

Summer signing Xherdan Shaqiri, who marked his first appearance for the club with a stunning overhead kick against United, was amongst the players spotted at the airport, with Mohamed Salah also present.

Liverpool’s next assignment sees them take on Napoli in Ireland on Wednesday, with £65million goalkeeper Alisson poised to make his debut in that fixture.

Following that, the Reds will host Torino at Anfield on August 7 before the real action gets underway on August 12 when they host West Ham.

Liverpool started pre-season with an emphatic 7-0 win away to Chester before beating Tranmere Rovers 3-2.

A goalless draw against Bury followed, with Klopp’s team subsequently beating Blackburn 2-0.

The Reds then headed to the United States where they lost 3-1 to Klopp’s former club Borussia Dortmund but they bounced back by beating Manchester City 2-1 prior to prevailing past United.

It has been a busy summer off the pitch for Liverpool, too, with Shaqiri, Alisson, Naby Keita and Fabinho all joining the club for a combined total of £174.25million.

Having reached the Champions League final last season, Liverpool will be especially determined to enjoy a successful campaign as they look to win silverware for the first time under Klopp.
