Liverpool players set to receive huge bonuses for Champions League triumph

Real Madrid will head to Kiev on May 26 in the hope of winning their third successive Champions League title, yet their opponents will be even further motivated by the fact they’ve agreed to huge bonus payments in the event they overcome Los Blancos.

Each Liverpool player is set to earn 200,000 euros should they lift their sixth European Cup, and this would be just less than half of the 15.5 million euro reward pot on offer by UEFA.

The Reds had already been given 6.5m euros in prize money for reaching the quarterfinal stage, with the team’s run to the Kiev showpiece being an excellent source of additional income for the Fenway Sports Group.

Having not been in a final since 2007, the English club are entering relatively unknown territory, at least with their current squad, and this is certainly not the case for their opponents.

Nobody is as well versed in Champions League finals than Zinedine Zidane.

He’s won two in a row and will now coach in a third consecutive final, never having lost a European knockout tie as a coach.

Given their incredible success in the tournament, Los Blancos have been used to offering a significantly higher bonus to their players for lifting the trophy.

In 2016, each player was rewarded with 320,000 euros, whilst the 2017 triumph saw the Spanish giants part with around 71 million in bonus payments.

Following their victory over Juventus in Cardiff, Los Blancos paid every single player two million euros after they won five of six trophies on offer during the campaign.
