Liverpool and Manchester City fight for Napoli full-back Faouzi Ghoulam

Napoli full-back Faouzi Ghoulam appears to be headed out of Stadio San Paolo at the end of this season when his contract expires. The Algerian has already been linked to Manchester City, but it appears Liverpool are interested in bringing the defender to England as well.

The idea of bringing him in for around only £3 million is an enticing one for the two clubs. Though Jurgen Klopp’s team is a recent entrant into the rumor mill, it appears City may have the inside track to sign him. However, Chelsea is also monitoring his situation as well.

Manchester City are set to take on Napoli in Champions League play next week, and hope to open a dialogue with the club about Ghoulam. With Benjamin Mendy injured, they see the left-back as a value replacement for the French star.

At 26-years-old, Ghoulam has his prime seasons ahead of him, and it appears they will be spent in England. The question, however, of where, remains.
