Filipe Luis’ future is a big uncertainty

Atletico Madrid returned to training on Sunday morning following their first LaLiga Santander win of the season.

Those who started against Rayo Vallecano weren’t out on the field and were instead part of a recovery session.

Given that Vitolo is currently sidelined through injury, only eight members of the Atletico squad took part on the pitch. One of them was Filipe Luis, who wasn’t given a single minute of action the previous day.

There are five days before both the Spanish and French transfer markets close and Atletico are still awaiting news from Paris Saint-Germain in regards to their pursuit of the player.

Rojiblancos sources insist that no formal proposal has been received for the player, beyond the initial contact.

In that sense, there is some expectation from those at the Wanda Metropolitano that there is the possibility of a UEFA decision imminently with regards to PSG’s potential breach of Financial Fair Play rules.

Although the Brazilian remains likely to leave, Atletico understand that time is in their favour.

Of course, they have identified several alternatives (including Juan Bernat) in the event that they are forced to move for a replacement.
