CR7 could face second long ban of the season after off the ball clash in Real defeat
Zinedine Zidane could be forced to pick Real Madrid team’s without Cristiano Ronaldo for the second time this season.
Best FIFA winner Ronaldo missed the first five games of Real’s campaign after he was sent off for diving and then pushed the referee during his side’s Spanish Super Cup victory over Barcelona.
Winger Ronaldo has struggled since, as the hit man has only netted a single La Liga goal.
Real’s poor start to the season stretched to Sunday’s 2-1 defeat to newly-promoted Girona – with Ronaldo once again drawing a blank.
But to make matters worse for the Portuguese megastar he could now be watching from the stands.
Ronaldo was caught grappling with Girona defender Pere Pons at a corner. So far so normal.
But as the ball heads towards him, he realises he has lost the battle for the ball, and starts grabbing Pons’ head.
With another defender winning the header, Ronaldo palms his rival off in the face leaving him on the floor.
Real are now eight points behind leaders Barcelona in the title race, and are set to be without Ronaldo for a few games.
