Celtic fan invades pitch and aims kick at Kylian Mbappe
Celtic could find themselves in trouble with UEFA after a supporter invaded the Parkhead pitch and aimed a kick at Kylian Mbappe.
The incident, which took place during the first half of the Champions League clash on Tuesday night, is likely to be investigated by the authorities after the fan came close to landing a blow on the Paris Saint-Germain forward.
Mbappe cowered as the man, who was wearing a green jacket and jeans and had a Celtic scarf wrapped around his neck, ran towards him.
Fortunately, the kick missed its intended target and no one was harmed.
The man was caught by stewards and escorted from the field of play.
UEFA take a dim view on such incidents and Celtic are no strangers to the governing body’s disciplinary procedures.
In December, the club were charged after their fans were seen in sections of the Etihad Stadium meant for Manchester City supporters before an outbreak of fighting took place in the 73rd minute of the two sides’ Champions League meeting.
And in August, they were cited after fans unfurled what UEFA determined to be an ‘illicit banner’ during a game against Northern Irish side Linfield.
The banner in question featured the image of a paramilitary-style figure.
