Bale’s 160 Real Madrid appearances beats Beckham

Once he had stepped onto the pitch against Fuenlabrada, Gareth Bale surpassed David Beckham’s record of the British player with most appearances for Real Madrid.

The Welshman, who came on in the 60th minute, now has 160 games under his belt for Los Blancos, beating Beckham’s 159.

Bale, signed by Madrid in 2013, has scored 70 goals for the club and won 11 titles, including three Champions Leagues.

Beckham, who played at Real between 2003 and 2007, scored just 20 goals, winning one LaLiga title and a Spanish Super Cup.

The third player in this particular ranking is Steve McManaman, who played 158 matches for Real, among them the finals which saw the eighth and ninth Champions League wins.
