Atletico Madrid’s Wanda Metropolitano stadium will host the 2019 Champions League Final
Madrid was chosen ahead of Baku, the only other candidate to stage the match.
Baku’s Olympic stadium was chosen to stage the Europa League final.
Atletico’s new home officially opened on Saturday, as Antoine Griezmann scored the winning goal against Malaga in a 1-0 win.
Diego Simeone’s side have moved into the new 67,703-build after leaving the Estadio Vicente Calderon, their home of 50 years.
It has been reported that the pitch was only completed within days of its opening fixture, as Atletico battled against time to complete it in time.
But the state-of-the-art new ground will not be finished until Christmas, despite a summer-long fight to get it ready for the 2017-18 season.
The Spanish capital last hosted the Champions League final in 2010, where the Bernabeu staged Inter Milan’s 2-0 victory over Bayern Munich.
